Boortz on the stupid jobs bill

“Ready for a lesson in rational thought? I promise – for you liberals – this doesn’t hurt.

So … along comes this ill-prepared community organizer/president who tells you that he will give you a $5000 tax credit if you will just hire someone to work in your business. Trouble is, (1) you don’t need an additional worker right now because your business isn’t growing; and (2) if you do hire an additional worker it is going to cost you at least $50,000 when you consider salary, matching Social Security “contributions”, unemployment insurance, workers comp and other expenses. So … here’s your choice. Do you spend $50,000 or more of money you really don’t have right now to hire an employee you don’t need just to get a $5000 tax credit? No? Somehow I didn’t think so.”

Just brilliant.

    Not a Liberal, Dude.

So, tax credits no good, huh? Only the tried and true conservative way of cutting taxes will work. ONLY cutting taxes. Why would cutting taxes make a difference right now? All of this: “you don’t need an additional worker right now because your business isn’t growing; and (2) if you do hire an additional worker it is going to cost you at least $50,000 when you consider salary, matching Social Security “contributions”, unemployment insurance, workers comp and other expenses.”….would still apply. You have no clue obviously. You just want to shoot down any idea Obama has. If the answer is soooo simple, why doesn’t he just do it? Do you think he wants high unemployment and low approval ratings? An obstructionist Republican Party? If it’s so simple and guaranteed to work, why doesn’t he just lower taxes? Well he has…or have you forgotten about that…or just refuse to give him credit for it?

A stupid idea is a stupid idea. I’m not really sure what to say if this tax break makes sense to you.

I wasn’t calling you a liberal. I was quoting Boortz. I forgot you are a progressive now 🙂

This idea is obviously for those small businesses on the cusp of hiring an additional worker or two and this just may be the thing that prompts them to do so. Will it work for a company that just laid of 50 people? No, of course not. It is an attempt to stimulate hiring, which puts money in people’s hands, which they spend on goods and services, which requires labor, which etc, etc, etc. You know this stupid Econ 101 stuff. Is it a panacea? No. May it help a little? Sure it might. It might cause the unemployment number to drop 1/2 of 1 percent…which is a positive sign for lenders etc. But your head is stuck so far up the ass of “tried and true conservative principles” and anti-Obamaism that you seem to have run out of ideas–oh wait…conservatives don’t have ideas. I forgot–just the old “tried and true” And the ability to belittle others’ ideas. Ha ha

But we are paying every employer that is going to hire someone whether they are on the cusp or not. It’s a bad idea. I have to call it the way I see it. I didn’t oppose the tax on the banks. I thought that was out of the box thinking. Granted I would prefer it goes to deficit reduction. The point is, I look at each policy on its own merits. It’s hard to be a conservative because the “ideas” are not to have ideas. It is to get out of the way as much as possible. It is to allow people to fail where maybe there isn’t a big cushy safety net. These are not the policies that caused this crisis. I know you keep hearing that from your liberal sponsors but it’s not true.

Well hey, if you wanted AIG and Citi and Bank of America and Merrill Lynch and Bear Sterns etc, etc, etc to all fail at the same time, then all you had to do, was nothing. Just sit on your hands, get out of the way and watch trillions of dollars go up in smoke. Watch unemployment hit 22%.

I don’t see how any serious person can say that was a better alternative. That, my friend, is stupid.

Actually, I disagree. Read: End the Fed, Basic Economics (the book I sent you), It’s Different This Time 800 Years of Financial Folly, Liberty and Tyranny, Why Austrian Economics Matters. You might have a different opinion.
